What is an ID Artist?
As part of L’Oréal Professionnel’s continued commitment to education and developing young hairdressing talent, the ID Artist program was set up in 2003.
The ID Artists are a team of young hairdressers from around the country who have been selected to work together and be trained on new looks, cuts, colour and products in order to be able to train other hairdressers, inspire their colleagues and most importantly, their customers.
Entry is by invitation to an audition, where young stylists have 5 – 10 minutes to present a moodboard of their ideas, and a finished model demonstrating their colour, cut and styling skills, and to talk about the products and techniques they’ve used to achieve the look.
A 2 year training program includes:
• Cutting and styling techniques by icons such as Trevor Sorbie, and established industry names, such as Simon Shaw from Haringtons.
• Training by one of the UK’s top session stylists, such as Rudi Lewis, who works on shows in NY, Paris and Milan, in styling techniques and how to create the latest catwalk looks.
• Presentation skills by a trained communications expert.
• Platform opportunities at Style Labs and Catwalk Showcase Events (featuring seasonal colour collections) working alongside L’Oréal Professionnel Technical Consultants.
• An international trip with other hairdressers to see one of the big names in the industry.
